We stock the P& T with rainbow trout and a smaller amount of Brown Trout.

The rainbow trout

originates from nothern America/ Canada and it prefers cool waters.
It can be recognised on its many small black spots on finns and tail. In the summer it is silver-coloured with a pink streak at the side annd its greenish-black bag.
In the autumn and winter it  grows darker and the male develops a distinct hook on its lower jaw.
Our rainbows are in the size of 1-6 kg.

The Brown Trout

is an original danish / northern european fish.
It is known by its red spots with a dark ring about them and for its yellow stomach.
They are more difficult to catch than the rainbows and therefor there are some really old whoppers swimming around in the P&T,  as you may imagine, these are really hard to catch.

We don`t feed the fish, so they have to live on  the rich natural aquatic life in the water. The challenge is to get them take your lure instead.
Even if we have had the P&T some years and are keen fishermen, we are just as bad as anybody else to figure out, when the fish are in taking-mood and what is the best lure to use on any particular day.
We have experienced one fisherman catch 15 fish in less than one hour and we have seen several fishermen only catching 1-2 fish altogether in two hours.
And we can`t say why..
Some days -or even hours- one lure can be terrific, another time, something different works.

is always a winner fished under a cork.
We have seen some guys fish very succesfully with powerbait in the form of a 4-5 cm long sausage of powerbait approximately 1-2 centimeters thick and made thinner in the end. More or less looking like a prolonged thadpole.
Red and yellow are good colours.

are a good old classic and is still taking its part of the catch, but as far as we can see, it don`t beat powerbait.

can be the lure of the day and the old Mepps with a cupper-coloured blade with red spots, is still a must.
A little hint: if a fish is following without taking, it may sometimes induce a take if you stop wheeling in, and let the spinner sink a bit.

are useful if you wish to fish deep in the water.

can on certain days beat everything else.
Either fished as dry flies on the surface or wet-flies if the fish are not active on the surface.
We can’t explain why, but we have experienced that fly patterns that contain white and blue can be deadly

The best piece of advice may be to try something different if you don’t catch anything the way you are actually fishing: different lure, different speed, different place.
Most people fish near the water- influx in the P&T, and there is no doubt that the trouts like to stand in the current.
What may not be so obvious is, that they also like to be near the outpour from the P&T in the other end of the lake as well in the deeper spots in the middle.
